• Group Formation & Diversity: Group 33 Advocates is a collective of like-minded advocates—including both seasoned seniors and newly qualified juniors—who share professional goals while maintaining independent practices, enabling knowledge transfer and empowerment.
  • Purposeful Space Design: Their chambers span two floors at Club One, thoughtfully divided into shared areas and individual offices to support both communal identity and personal workspace.
  • Individualized Offices: Unlike traditional, identical spaces, each advocate custom-designed their own office, creating a unique and non-cookie-cutter environment.
  • Artistic Integration: Common areas feature wildlife and landscape photography by Ms Lingenfelder SC, showcasing members’ own artwork and enhancing the modern aesthetic.
  • Innovative Legal Hub: The move, completed at the end of last year into Club One precinct, marks a shift to a more modern, collaborative, and design-forward legal workspace.

Group 33 Advocates moved into the Club One building at the end of last year and have been settling into life in the precinct. They shared the details of their unique offering, and the reasoning behind their innovative office space.

Tell us a bit more about the collective – how did you all come together and what are the shared objectives?
Group 33 Advocates is a grouping of likeminded advocates who have decided to associate themselves with one another to establish an integrated and demographically representative professional and commercial environment. Each member pursues his or her own individual practice while simultaneously being aligned to the principal short- and long-term goals of the Group. The Group as a whole benefits from the individuality of its members. In this respect, our members range from established senior advocates, who have been practising for decades, to newly qualified advocates who have only recently completed pupillage. We believe that the Group’s balanced senior/junior ratio too is conducive towards securing the success of the Group; the transfer of skills, knowledge and experience from senior practitioners to junior practitioners and the empowerment of the next generation of practitioners.

Your new chambers are not a cookie-cutter office space where everything looks exactly the same. Tell us about the motivation behind the unique decoration for each office, and how that was achieved.
The two floors that we have taken up in the Club One building are conceptually divided into common areas and the individual advocates’ offices. Insofar as the common areas on the two floors are concerned, the modern interior design of these areas generally assume the same aesthetic attributes which we believe portray the Group’s inclination to break away from the traditional appearance of legal offices. As for the individual offices, each advocate is responsible for the interior design of his or her office. It is for this reason that our offices are not the proverbial “cookie cutter offices” and why no two offices in the Group will look the same.

The art on the walls also tell a story we hear – who are the artists, and how did the choice of these particular pieces come about?
The artwork that you would find in our common space are photographs by one of our own members, Ms Lingenfelder SC.  Apart from being a successful senior advocate, she also has a remarkable talent and admirable passion for wildlife and landscape photography. Her photographs contribute to the modern aesthetics of the interior design.

You’ve been settling in over the last month or two; what are your impressions of The Club precinct, and what is it like working in this greater environment?
Having now become somewhat settled in the Club precinct, and getting used to working within the greater Hazelwood community, we find the precinct to be a breath of fresh air. Apart from the infectious buzz in the area, the precinct, as a commercial node, more than adequately provides for the different needs of our individual members, ranging from the superb restaurants in close proximity to our offices to the retailers conveniently situated almost on our doorstep.

We certainly look forward, as a Group, to become and remain an integral part of the precinct in years to come and we are excited for what the future may hold for us as part of this community.
