Atterbury to manage The Village as part of Old East Precinct
At the beginning of December last year Atterbury announced its novel new plans for invigorating the Hazelwood business and leisure precinct from The Club to The Village. Named Old East Precinct, this contemporary mix of urban and suburban districts is referred to as a “surban” region in modern development parlance.
Atterbury’s vision for Old East Precinct conjures up feelings of a surban village in which residents and visitors stroll around leisurely, visit restaurants and cafés, work and live.
According to Zandri Wells, Atterbury’s asset manager responsible for Old East Precinct, the company takes over full management and responsibility for The Village in two weeks’ time. “We have already done a significant amount of work in preparation for managing The Village and incorporating this vibey, trendy area into Old East Precinct,” she explains.
One of the operational disciplines Atterbury will instil at The Village is sound control.
“In order to ensure everyone in Old East Precinct and its immediate vicinity can enjoy their leisure activities free from excessive sound, we are in the process of installing sound level decibel meters throughout the precinct,” Wells elaborates. “The devices will automatically reduce sound levels when these venture above predetermined standards.”
She also indicates the company is aware of a recent noise complaint from a resident of the area. “A resident mentioned excessive sound levels emanating from Oze Bistro during the evening of 12 January. A scuffle apparently ensued as a result. While Atterbury regrets this incident, it’s important to note that the company becomes responsible for The Village from 1 March this year,” Wells says.
Even though Atterbury is not officially involved at The Village yet, the company has already been in touch with both the affected resident as well as the restaurant in order to contribute to a positive final outcome.
Atterbury will make certain that adequate security is deployed throughout Old East Precinct.
“The safety of visitors to the precinct is of the utmost importance,” indicates Wells. “As Atterbury we will ensure everyone is able to enjoy the precinct in a comfortable and safe manner. The level of security will be of the same high standard as that of The Club and our other properties.”
In addition, Atterbury is actively engaging with all the individual establishments in The Village so that the appropriate measures are in place to safeguard patrons. Wells continues: “The principle we adhere to is that of a responsible landlord working together with our tenants to ensure a happy, safe and pleasant experience when people visit Old East Precinct, including The Village.
“Our vision for Old East Precinct is for a surban village in which everyone feels comfortably at home at all times,” she remarks. “This includes establishing a safe, hospitable environment with adequate parking and movement control, as well as keeping sound levels within acceptable standards.”
