Created by Atterbury Property stalwart and Atterbury Trust study bursary alumnus Gerhard van der Westhuizen and presented by him and Rayno Strauss, the popular Invitational Golf Day has once again secured essential care for select charities and a cancer-stricken child in desperate need.
In conjunction with Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels, The Invitational Golf Day has secured funds for Atterbury Trust, Sunflower Fund and Karla Kriel, an eight-year-old girl from Meyerton who requires assistance with her courageous fight against kidney cancer.
Hosted for the fourth year running on 20 November 2018, this unique and well-supported charity drive is the brainchild of Van der Westhuizen and Strauss. “This year a full field of 144 players in 36 four ball teams thoroughly enjoyed a day out on the Woodhill Country Club course. Unfortunately, a further 18 four balls could not be accommodated. The message is that interested players need to book early next year,” says Van der Westhuizen.
“Due to the participation of many valuable sponsors and all the players, we were able to donate the full proceeds of the day, this year totalling R740 000,” he says.
After this year’s Invitational Golf Day Van der Westhuizen also provided feedback about Melti Grobler, the worthy recipient of funds for a crucial bone-marrow transplant last year. “I am excited to announce that Melti is doing really well,” enthuses Van der Westhuizen. “He is now cancer free and can live the life of a healthy six-year-old.”
Pencil in The Invitational Golf Day for November 2019 so long and make sure you book early. It’s your chance to show you care too.
