A slice of my day is better than a slice of cake… multi-layered and every bite tastes different! I first joined Atterbury in 2003 just as the Johannesburg office opened, facing a new exciting career as a tenant co-ordinator.
Every day I’m exposed to the whole spectrum of the construction industry; from meeting and managing contractors and consultants, to liaising with tenants and their operational teams; from pre- to post-construction phases. My experience over the past 15 years has provided me with an understanding to assist tenants with their requirements and challenges from design, implementation and finally the rectification phase. My role means I am part of the creation of a new work space for them.
It’s been absolutely spectacular to work on a vast variety of projects, from smaller neighbourhood to larger regional shopping centres; from tiny office spaces to mega single-tenanted buildings. I have the opportunity to work with various tenants from a variety of sectors and the most exceptional consultants and contractors in the industry. I am constantly learning new methods and see a continuous improvement of processes. The challenge is to keep improving the tenant coordination process in the ever-changing and fast-track environment.
Working specifically for Atterbury is the cherry on top of my slice – it has been such a privilege to be part of shaping the horizon with the company. I can’t believe that it has already been 15 years, but it is amazing to see a plot of land taking shape into a home for a tenant. The Atterbury leaders and my colleagues have always been my mentors and a constant source of inspiration; there are always bright, willing minds around to give input when you face a challenge. And it increasingly remains a challenge to ensure that every tenant’s home is best suited for their needs.
And in women’s month, I’m extremely fortunate to have my own solid support structure at home with my husband Alkie and my two beautiful children.
