Financial Controller, Wilna de Wit is one of the 46 exceptional women we are privileged to have as part of the Atterbury team. She shares her involvement in the property industry as part of our series on remarkable women at Atterbury Property:
How did you get involved with the property industry?
Years ago I was fortunate to have a friend who was employed by Atterbury. Her enthusiasm for the company and her colleagues was infectious and I realised that Atterbury was unique and exactly the kind of company with which I wanted to be associated. I forwarded my CV… and the rest is history. It is now eight amazing years later and I have loved and cherished every minute.
What do you like most about working in the property sector?
I form part of a great finance team and currently my focus is on new developments. Each project is unique and has its own challenges, but in the process there is always the opportunity to learn something new, which is very enriching. Finalising a project is quite a rewarding experience, especially since I know that I have contributed a little piece of myself.
What advice would you give women who want to get into the property sector as a career?
Hard work is essential, as is a willingness to learn more about the property sector. Build and maintain relationships and never be afraid to ask for help.
