It has been a year of change and challenges, but 2018 is on its back! On the eve of the summer holidays we asked a few members of the Atterbury team what they’d like to forget, and what they look forward to….

What about 2018 can’t you wait to leave behind, and what is your wish for 2019?

Erna van Huyssteen
After an extremely busy 2018, the hustle and bustle is definitely something that I look forward to leaving behind for a while.  My wish for 2019 is to enjoy the little things more, and to return from the holiday relaxed and refreshed to tackle the challenges which 2019 may bring.

Martina du Plooy
I try not to focus too much on past tribulations, so there isn’t really anything that I would like to forget. After all, we learn valuable lessons through any hardships endured. This has been a difficult year for me (financially; emotionally; with a lot of uncertainties and with many important and large decisions that had to be made), but I think the groundwork needed for next year (work-wise and in my personal life) has now been done and we can look forward to a bright and prosperous 2019!

For 2019 I hope that all the stresses and uncertainties and hard work of this year will eventually pay off, that we will see all our new projects in the pipeline kicking off; and also that there will be new and exciting beginnings for me and my family.

I’d definitely like to forget the effects of listeriosis ?; so, looking forward to not being scared to have bacon again as part of an enjoyable Saturday breakfast! This year brought long hours with studies and working, and I am definitely looking forward to this stabilising in 2019.

SJ van der Merwe
I can’t wait to leave behind corrupt politicians, the Guptas and bad wine.

My wish for 2019 is that everyone would live by two rules: love one another, and don’t be that guy (or girl).

Corlia Fouche
I would like to forget the goals we had for certain projects which couldn’t be achieved for various uncalled for reasons. I’m looking forward to these developments now taking off and the end products to give me goose bumps.

I’d like to forget the headlines of farm murders, land expropriation and fires which happened in 2018 and my wish for 2019 is that our nation and Government stand together and develop South Africa into one of the best countries in the world.

What are you and your loved ones planning for the festive season?

SJ van der Merwe
Playing as hard as we can and living life –  every day could be your last. We recently got a small addition to our family (baby girl), so looking forward to 2am/3am/4am quality family time!

Nature is calling us – it’s camping time in the Drakensberg.

I plan to see a lot of my closest friends and family.

Belinda Beukes
My plans are just to catch up and spend quality time with friends and family, irrespective of what we get up to. (I believe it will include some time at the Garden of Lights as my little nephew loves the rides).

Erna van Huyssteen
We’ll be spending some time on the farm before travelling down to Hermanus where we’ll be spending Christmas with family and friends.
