Press Release

While it recently rained in some areas of drought-stricken South Africa, this rain is still not enough to really make a long-term difference. Many farmers still face great financial pressure, especially as seed couldn’t be planted and animals couldn’t be fed. Debt is piling up and money is scarce.

Few things bring the diverse people of South Africa together as strongly as a real need. Many of us would like to help the farmers, but do not always know how. Now there is an opportunity to enjoy an Afrikaans concert and, in this way, also help financially to alleviate the effects of drought.

The popular Afrikaans singer Adam Tas came up with the idea to hold a concert, with his musical friends, to raise such money for drought relief: “Farmers ensure that we have food every day, they devote their lives to nature and the land, but they do so at the mercy of the laws of nature. They are now experiencing major financial crisis.”

To make his idea of a concert for farmers a reality, Adam joined hands with Caring Daisies, a fundraising organisation that ensures that funds raised are used directly for their intended purpose.

Anria van Heerden, head of Caring Daisies explains: “We would like to give everyone the opportunity to help others in need. The farmers need help now. Each person who buys a ticket for The Manna for Farmers Concert will contribute directly to help the farmers.”

Earlier this month, Caring Daisies got the country talking when it transported almost 2,000 bales of feed to farmers in North West, the Free State and Northern Cape.

As soon as he heard about the initiative, Lood Bester of Wildswinkel immediately offered the support of this prestigious wildlife organisation. Also lending a hand, Louis van der Watt committed the support of property group Atterbury. Jean Engelbrecht, a co-owner of Hinterland Vleishandelaars, also pledged Hinterland’s financial assistance to this project.

Recently, Toyota and Media24 publications like Landbouweekblad and Rapport, also put their weight behind the Manna for the Farmers Concert.

Some of the most popular and biggest names in Afrikaans music are giving their time and talent free for the concert.

All you need to do is book your tickets at Computicket and then come to the concert. If we all stand together, we’ll enjoy more than a glorious afternoon of music and singing, but also an ideal opportunity to actively help ease the farmers’ needs.

Funds raised will be managed and distributed by Caring Daisies.

Sponsors: Wildswinkel, Atterbury, Toyota, Hinterland Vleishandelaars and Media24.

Caring Daisies background

Caring Daisies is an initiative driven since 2010 by a group of friends with only one goal – to make people aware of the wonderful gift and privilege to be able to give and in the process change lives. Caring Daisies is primarily a fundraising organization where everyone donates their time voluntarily to make a difference. Every person who supports the Caring Daisies becomes part of the wonderful gift of giving, and you will probably find that what you receive in the process is more than you give. Every penny it receives is managed and utilised where it really makes a difference, in this case farmers. Each project will be undertaken is carried out with hearts full of love and the motto, “Live a Life of Giving”.
